Vineyards and Wine Making Philosophy

Chapin Family Vineyards planted their first vineyards in 2002 and was dedicated to growing excellent wine grapes for other wineries. Over the following years we evolved into full wine production with our first release in 2006. These small first releases were sold primarily to hotels and restaurants. Then, in January 2012 we opened our new tasting room for the general public to enjoy.

Excellent wines begin in the vineyard, a philosophy that Chapin Family Vineyards strictly adheres to. This philosophy is not new but one that our vineyard and wine making team takes seriously. Nutritional balance of the vines, optimal pruning methods, canopy control, fruit balance of the vines, and utilization of state of the art vineyard tools are just some of the keys to successful wine making.

In addition to our estate vineyards, we work with a number of independent growers throughout the Temecula Valley. In some of these cases we manage and farm the vineyards for the owners, in other cases we work closely with the growers to assure the standards and quality of wine grapes desired for our wines.
